This past Easter weekend was the unofficial launch of a busy gay summer. This year marks the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall riots, so gay pride celebrations around the world will have a special meaning. This weekend was the Gay Clubbing Weekend in Rome, as well as the widely popular White Party in Palm Springs (its 20th anniversary). Later this month it’s Amsterdam’s Queen’s Day, an excuse for everyone to come out and party.

The first Pride of the year will be Las Vegas’ on May 1st, and from then to September there will be a major gay happening somewhere in some major city in Europe or the Americas almost every day. There are the usual gay pride events, the gay and lesbian film festivals, but also the special EuroPride 2009 taking place in Zurich and the OutGames 2009, this time in Copenhagen.
