THE ACE HOTEL: NEW YORK’S HIPPEST NEW HOTEL FINALLY OPENS
When the Ace Hotel in Seattle became that city’s hippest hotel it was more than apparent that the hotel group would expand elsewhere. The Big Apple was an obvious choice, and after many delays, it finally opened this week. It has a cool vintage-bohemian look that somehow still manages to look cutting-edge and contemporary, and it’s one of the most eagerly-awaited hotel openings in the city in quite some time. It’s boutique accommodation for all budgets, including bunk bed rooms that will go for around $99. Those cheaper rooms may have the look of a hostel but there are no shared bathrooms here. This is a full-blown hotel, and several of the larger (and more expensive) rooms even have the look of an apartment, especially the one-bedroom suite.
It was designed by Robin Standefer and Stephen Alesch of New York-based design firm Roman and Williams, and includes a Stumptown Coffee shop, the signature Breslin restaurant, and a retail shop called Project 8. All rooms offer free wireless internet, a mini refrigerator and fully-stocked mini-bar. Even before it opened this was already one of the hippest hotels in town, with everyone curious about how it would be designed inside. Now you can check it out on the photos below, and those wishing to book a night can do so here: Ace Hotel New York
