Lisbon’s design biennial is back in town. The city’s biggest design event that started in 1999 expanded to Amsterdam last year, while this year’s edition in the Portuguese capital takes place from today to the 8th of November. It also focuses on architecture, and this time the theme is “It’s About Time.” The special exhibitions will happen in different spaces around the city such as the Berardo Museum of Contemporary and Modern Art and the Orient Museum, while the entire program is available on the official website www.experimentadesign.pt.
Design-conscious travelers in Lisbon should consider the Jeronimos 8 design hotel just around the corner from the Berardo Museum to stay close to the city’s cultural highlights. Another option is the Internacional Design Hotel facing the city’s central square, which recently reopened after a major renovation. A third option is Fontana Park Hotel, located in the business district with a love-it-or-hate-it black and white design.
