PASS THE GUINNESS: CELEBRATING ARTHUR’S DAY IN DUBLIN

Mark your calendar — 5:59PM local Dublin time on September 24. That’s when the Irish capital will mark the signing of the 9,000-year lease for its famous brewery that gave Guinness to the world exactly 250 years ago. Mr. Arthur Guinness’ day will be celebrated by thousands of people and live music events at over thirty different venues around Dublin, from small pubs to the St. James’ Gate brewery. The Guinness will be raised at 5:59PM to toast the Arthur Guinness Fund, bringing together artists and celebrities like Bob Geldof and Guy Ritchie for the official announcement of Guinness & Co.’s 6-million-euro donation to the fund. That will happen together with a number of concerts by bands and artists such as the Black Eyed Peas, Sugababes, The Kooks, and Tom Jones.
If you won’t be in Dublin on the 24th to join the celebration, you can always toast with a Guinness any time you’re in the city, and be sure to get your ticket to the Guinness Storehouse in advance.
