Cafe Victor, Copenhagen Café Victor
The beautiful art deco interior and ambience may recall a Parisien brasserie, but this is a café filled with Copenhagen charm. It's located right in the main shopping area, perfect for a stop at any time of the day, especially with its impressive selection of beers, wine, and spirits.

Meyers deli
A popular choice for breakfast, come here for a typically-strong coffee and sit with the friendly locals at the communal benches. Better yet, come for weekend brunch and enjoy the vast selection of breads, fruit, pastries, and more.

The Royal Cafe
Every heard of "smushi"? It's a bite-size combination of Danish smørrebrød and sushi, and that's what you'll find at this hip café. The designer interior also attracts guests who sit on retro sofas under chandeliers surrounded by pink walls. This is also a cool spot for weekend brunch.

Nyhavns Faergekro
Locals and tourists regularly head to this spot in Nyhavn for a drink, especially when the sun is out. Located in an 18th century building, it offers canal views and a charming rustic interior. Turn lights on to get the staff's attention, and they'll bring you traditional Danish dishes for dinner. At lunch time there is a buffet with ten kinds of herring, while in the afternoon you may sit outside with a drink and some of the best views in town.

Cafe Ketchup
As one of the hippest spots in town, Copenhagen café society meets here for a light meal at the lively café area, while others go for drinks at the bar. They follow that with a meal at the restaurant, and when it turns into a club, groove to the live DJ's sounds.

Karriere
This cutting-edge cafe-restaurant-bar uses mostly organic ingredients to create top quality dishes, savored before a night of drinking and dancing. Sit on one of the cosy sofas or dance to the DJ's sounds by the naughty striptease pole on the dancefloor. On other days you may find video screenings, concerts, or other performances.

Kong Hans Restaurant, Copenhagen Kong Hans
Sit in the romantic vaulted dining room and wait for one of the most refined dining experiences in Copenhagen. The building is one of the city's oldest and where Hans Christian Andersen wrote "Love in Nicholas' Tower." The haute cuisine menu blends French and Danish creations very much worth the above average prices.

Soeren K
The Royal Library's controversial modern building is home to this restaurant that has an equally modern interior. It's a minimalist space where you can choose from a menu listing French dishes, including some good vegetarian options. Everything comes well presented on your plate, to be enjoyed as you look out over the canal.

Geranium
Opening to rave reviews in 2007 guaranteed that this restaurant became an instant favorite. The award-winning chefs offer an organic/biodynamic menu and wine list in a beautiful dining room dating from the 19th century.

Kiin Kiin
Located in the trendy multicultural neighborhood of Nørrebro, this restaurant serves outstanding modern Thai cooking. The dining room decorated with golden Buddhas is upstairs, while downstairs is a lounge where you can go for drinks and snacks.

Paustian
Part of the Paustian design store, this white open space is known for a creative menu that is a great option for lunch. It a little away from the center of the city, but it's worth taking a taxi for the shopping and the modern Danish cuisine. The star chef prepares well-presented dishes using the best local ingredients, earning a Michelin star for it.

Umami
For lovers of sushi or innovative Japanese food this is the best choice in town. It's a stylish minimalist place of fabulous Scandinavian design that also doubles as a sleek cocktail bar.

Els
Set in a 19th century building with beautiful murals decorating the interior, this classic Copenhagen restaurant is a good option for rich Danish food.

The Paul
Seasonal ingredients mix to create a Michelin-starred menu that has become one of the Danish capital's most famous. It is served in a sophisticated glass-domed space in the Tivoli Gardens, with British chef Paul Cunningham guaranteeing a combination of British, Danish, and French flavors. The attentive staff explains the fresh ideas being prepared in the kitchen, while the bar area lined with Gubi Chairs serves cocktails.

Noma
A renovated warehouse with wonderful harbor views is now home to this gourmet restaurant serving innovative Nordic cuisine. In the dining room you'll still see the floors, the heavily beamed ceiling, and exposed brick of the historic warehouse, as you await for some of the best food you'll have in the city.

Restaurant Koriander
This ambitious restaurant serves an unusual fusion of French and Indian cuisine. It works surprisingly well, as does the futuristic white interior design. Recommended.

The Bubble
Seafood lovers will want to try this gourmet restaurant that displays all the creatures that will end up on your plate at the entrance. The dining area was created in part by Philippe Starck, and you'll see flat screens showing videos of modern art installed by a media artist.

Groennegade
Housed in a 17th century building, this romantic little restaurant uses seasonal ingredients for dishes served in a charming space. It is surrounded by brick walls decorated with candles, an open fireplace, and an old coffee grinder still used daily. It's a nice choice if you're hoping to have a romantic dinner for two.

Sommersko
Copenhagen's beautiful people like this place for brunch on weekends and coffee or drinks throughout the week. The menu is mostly French, and you can stay at the bar until late on weekends.
