Pubs and a night of drinking is what Dublin does best and that's what many visitors go to the city to experience. Dublin is almost synonymous with Guinness, and live music, dancing, and snacks are really all just excuses for one more drink. Temple Bar is the area where everyone first thinks of going, but the weekend street parties also happen in Camden Street and South Great George's Street. From there it's time to hit a club, and wherever you go depends on where the crowds are going. You may follow them or choose your final night time destination from our list:

DOHENY & NESBITT - 5 Baggot Street, Lower Dublin 2
For the authentic traditional Dublin pub experience, come to this city landmark that's been serving drinks since the 19th century. It has a great atmosphere, with its glass-panelled partitions, old wooden floors, and ornate ceiling. It's located around the corner from the country's Parliament, so you'll see politicians and economists here, who enjoy a good pint of Guinness as much as you do.

Cocoon, Dublin bar Cocoon
This sleek bar and cocktail lounge is the place to see and be seen while sitting on leather sofas sipping cocktails. DJs keep the attractive crowds happy through the night, with a mixture of house and dance classics. Naturally it's busiest on Friday and Saturday nights, but try to make it here whenever you're in town, as it's one of the coolest spots in Dublin.

Ron Blacks
This upmarket bar has an inviting ambience and decor, made up of leather sofas, wooden panelling, and soft lighting. It also serves food and attracts the wealthier and smartly dressed locals, who socialize at the sophisticated champagne bar upstairs.

Ba Mizu
Attracting models and other glamorous clientele, this trendy bar has a cosy space that is ideal for an intimate conversation. It also serves light meals.

The Bailey
This lively pub is a favorite of arty types, who often choose to sit outside and people watch. It has an informal but classy atmosphere, and it's a safe bet if you're looking for a nice place for late afternoon drink. It offers local and international beers, as well as champagne and fine wines.

Davy Byrnes
If you read James Joyce's "Ulysses," you know this place. It's quite popular at any time of the day, with its literary past reflected in its décor. It's a friendly place where you can accompany a drink with traditional Irish food.

The Globe
Dublin's young and hip crowds like this funky pub made up of red brick walls and decorated with dark wood furnishings. The Spanish-style tapas are good to fill the stomach before the weekly live jazz or late-night partying when it joins with Ri-Ra and becomes a club.

Ely Wine Bar
If you get tired of Guinness head to this wine bar and its wine cellar with hundreds of bottles. Many wines are available by the glass, enjoyed by singles on a date or by small groups of young professionals. The restaurant serves good organic dishes made with products from its own farm.

Club M, Dublin club Club M
Even after a decade, this remains one of the city's trendiest clubs. It's no surprise then that it attracts a large number of tourists, who did their homework to know that it serves good cocktails along with good music, lit up but a laser light system.

The Vaults
The name recalls the building's past as a bank, and the club is made up of its vaults. If you're a fan of R&B and hip hop, this is the place for you, although on some nights it's mostly progressive house and techno. That means on some days you'll rub shoulders with young ravers, and on others with 30-somethings in suits. There's a restaurant too with a decent wine list too.

Odessa Club
This is one of Dublin's hottest after-hours destinations, with two bars and a roof terrace. It's a private members-only bar, but it offers a special membership rate for foreigners (good option if you're a frequent Dublin visitor). It serves food, but the cocktails are what it does best. There are also BBQs during the summer, as well as wine tastings.

Lillie's Bordello
This renowned club gives privileges to its members, but you can also enjoy a night of pop, house, or R&B sounds in its sophisticated atmosphere. You may also reserve the space for private parties or corporate events.
