Lisbon's airport is practically in the center of the city, so you can reach your hotel in just minutes. A special "AeroBus" takes you downtown, passing by uptown's business district and Avenida da Liberdade, both major hotel areas.
If you don't want to wait for the bus, take a taxi. They line up outside the arrivals terminal, and it should cost between 10 and 15 euros to pretty much anywhere in the city. Another option is to prebook a transfer, for which you have the following services:

Once in the center, you may take the metro between the downtown and uptown attractions. To reach Alfama, the best way is on foot to better appreciate the views along the way, although you may take tram 28. For the monuments and museums of Belem (tower, monastery, Berardo Museum, etc.), take tram 15 from Comercio Square.

Trains to Sintra depart from Rossio Station, while those for Cascais and Estoril depart from Cais do Sodré.

CAR RENTAL

For the beaches south of the city and those around Sintra, it is better that you rent a car. Find the cheapest car rental rates here.
