You'll be landing in LAX (Los Angeles International Airport), from where you should rent a car to get around the city. If you won't be going far from your hotel and choose not to have your own transport, you may prebook an airport transfer:
LA Arrival Transfer
LA Departure Transfer

However, if you plan to go around the city, you really need your own car. Although Los Angeles has an extensive system of buses and a subway, you can't rely on them to reach all the places you'll want to visit in such a sprawling metropolis. Many areas are inaccessible without the automobile, and you'd have to go through frequent, impractical bus transfers for other parts of the city. You'd also spend more with a taxi service than with a car rental, as distances are long and the fares are high.
