BARS
Buck 15
To enter the bar at Buck15 you must go up a stairway covered in graffiti art. You then find a sitting space decorated in street art canvases and filled with funky 1970s sofas bought at flea markets. That's the cool retro/underground spirit of the place, which also supports emerging artists, musicians, and designers. The crowd here is relaxed, making this a great place for a few beers.
Jazid
Jazid regularly hosts live bands playing reggae, rock, and R&B (but not jazz, since it doesn't seem to catch on among the party-loving locals). The down-to-earth crowds come to drink and relax a bit at the DJ lounge's cocktail bar and pool table.
Rok Bar
The place for the hippest and the sexiest, this bar has funky red lights illuminating the hottest ladies and guys, including the bartenders who expect big tips. The DJ keeps everyone dancing all night, and the space can get quite crowded.
Rose Bar at Delano Hotel
The stylish Rose Bar is the place for models or those who just look like one. It is also a place of expensive cocktails in an impressive space lit by red spotlights. There are other hip or more exciting places to go to in Miami, but few surpass the atmosphere of the Rose Bar.
Sky Bar at The Shore Club
This ultra-cool hotspot has a pool, outdoor and indoor bars, and a mixture of house and hip hop sounds. It's one of the top destinations in Miami at night, with the cool crowd spread around the four lounge areas. Be sure to dress as stylishly as possible.
Bond St. Lounge at the Townhouse Hotel
Located in the Townhouse Hotel, this restaurant and bar attracts hipsters to its small space to sample the sashimi and sushi rolls. Later at night the bar is the place for cocktails but you may also always get some more sushi there as well.
CLUBS
B.E.D.
The name apparently means "Beverage, Entertainment, and Dining", but beds that can take about 10 people still fill most of the space of this club. The night starts with dinner, and at 11PM non-diners show up for a night of beverages while leaning on cushions or dancing on the dancefloor. The hip hop and R&B night is the most popular.
Crobar
This club attracts all kinds of crowds, both gay and straight, from tourists to local rich boys. The music is house or trance, and apparently how to get into the Super VIP section is top secret.
Grass Lounge
A trendy restaurant and bar in the evening turns into a club after dinner. You need to dress up to get into this rather exclusive chill-out lounge decorated in Caribbean style. You may choose to sit at one of the low tables by the bar or take a booth.
Mansion
This is South Beach's mega club filled with porn star-looking clientele. Flaunting the body that nature or money gave them, they pack six VIP areas and five dance floors dancing to the loud House music. The rich décor is made up of chandeliers, mirrors, fireplaces, and several projection screens, perhaps recalling the time when the building was a casino in the 1930s. Be prepared to spend big, as drinks are expensive, and reserving a table can go for as much as $2,000.
Mynt Ultra Lounge
Trance and hip hop are the sounds blasting at this club where Miami's most beautiful and rich people go to party. Pretend you're a superstar and sit at one of the sofas watching hot girls and their sugar daddies drinking vodka all night long.
Nikki Beach
Arguably Miami's sexiest party, this is the place to drink a mojito even in the afternoon. Lie on a hammock or on a bench and enjoy the beats of House as you observe Miami's coolest crowd in a Caribbean-like setting.
Nocturnal
This mega club attracts hardcore clubbers and the finest DJs. The 20,000-square-foot space spread over 3 floors holds several bars, crowds going crazy to the trance beats on the dancefloor, and huge screens showing all the surrounding action.
Opium Garden
The garden in the name is an open-space Oriental courtyard decorated with Chinese lanterns and golden Buddha. In the center is the dancefloor which may be observed from the cushioned steps above. The music is the always-popular house and hip hop, but if you don't feel like dancing, head to the bars and lounge area on the second level.
Pawn Shop Lounge
Expensive cars park outside and the occasional celebrity shows up at this club whose name recalls its previous life as a pawn shop. The music can be anything from rock to house, while the décor has a certain 1970s feel with its retro sofas.
Space
Space is the space for non-stop dancing and all-night partying to the sounds presented by top DJs. It lasts until past sunrise, when the trance beats are still going strong on the terrace. The terrace is the place for a short break, as are the bars surrounding the dancefloor.
Tantra
Start the evening at the expensive restaurant before your night of cocktail-sipping and dancing, all in the same space. Observe the Russian-model-looking girls dancing anywhere they find a free space on the grass floor.
Mokai
This Miami Beach club attracts models, celebrities, and local professionals. The décor (and name) was inspired by the Mokai Canyon on New Zealand's South Island. There's capacity for just over 200 people, so reserve the VIP area if you can.
Pearl Lounge
This is one of Miami's most exciting clubs, right above the famous Nikki Beach. It is an attractive place to dine, and not just because of the good-looking clientele. Go for the champagne at the central bar after dinner, then follow the DJ's beats on the dancefloor.
