Pasticceria Cova
This is the destination for afternoon tea. It once served as a meeting place for the actors and musicians performing at La Scala, and continues to be a city landmark for the local bourgeoisie. In addition to traditional pastries, there are their modern variations, keeping the place interesting to check out regularly.

Chocolat
Can't imagine the taste of chocolate mixing with that of balsamic vinegar or chilli? You will once you see all the exotic flavors at this chocolate bar. Don't miss it if you love chocolate, which of course you do.

Design Library Café
Located in a library dedicated exclusively to design, this café offers fresh organic dishes at any time of the day. You'll be surrounded by sleek designer furnishings lit up by a delicate LED lighting system, just the perfect environment for a casual group meeting or a solitary stop to eat as you read a design magazine or book.

California Bakery
As you can tell from the name, this is an American-style bakery serving American-style breakfasts. Come here for your morning muffin, apple pie, or cheesecake.

Trussardi alla Scala
Located just around the corner from the opera house, the Trussardi café has an elegant contemporary design which attracts a sophisticated crowd for an aperitivo or lunch. There are several entrées and snacks to choose from, but for a full Italian meal head to the restaurant upstairs, equally stylish with red leather armchairs.

Princi
An enornous oven seen from open kitchen is where the fresh bread you'll be served is made. This is a gourmet bakery, ideal for a morning coffee and brioche, or for a pizza or focaccia lunch. It stays open until late, so you can also try it for aperitivi in the evening.

GUCCI CAFFÉ - Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II
During your obligatory stop at the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, sit at the Gucci store's café which serves Gucci-labeled chocolate with your coffee or tea. Unlike other tourist trap cafes in Galleria, the prices here are actually justified.

10 Corso Como
American artist Kris Ruhs designed the black and white dining area looking out on a Paris-style courtyard, part of this chic shopping address. For a break try the organic food here, and if it's late afternoon join the others for aperitivi. Another time to come is on Sunday mornings for brunch.

Dolce & Gabbana Gold restaurant, Milan Dolce Gabbana Gold
Dolce and Gabbana's restaurant is just as you'd expect it, with styllsh décor and modern Italian cuisine. To be true to its name, it then added some gold here and there in the décor, and charged prices suitable for gold credit card-carrying clients. Downstairs are the more affordable café and bar, while the formal dining room is upstairs. Naturally, the bar has become an after-hours hotspot for the fashion crowd.

Lacerba
Artistic wall murals decorate this restaurant serving innovative vegetarian and fish recipes. A favorite is the rice over spinach topped with crushed pistachio and peas.

Maxsimo
This is a low-key lounge restaurant with a warm contemporary design of leather-padded walls and leather chairs. The menu offers refined Mediterranean dishes.

Joia
You don't have to be a vegetarian to select Joia among your favorite Milan restaurants. It serves a gourmet vegetarian menu using fresh seasonal vegetables that mix with tofu and soy for a Med-oriental fusion. Asian touches are also found in the modern, sleek décor, with bamboo screens and potted palms in the dining room.

Pane e Acqua
A cosmopolitan crowd fills this restaurant for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The dishes are simple but use fine ingredients, all served in a stylish wallpapered space.

Armani Nobu Restaurant, Milan Armani Nobu
Japanese chef Nobuyuki Matsuhisa (or simply Nobu) has restaurants in several world cities, and his space in Milan is in the Spazio Armani. The cuisine is a phenomenal Japanese-Latin American fusion, much appreciated by the city's most fashionable and affluent European and American visitors. The décor was of course overseen by Giorgio Armani, placing geometric wooden tables and orange seats to create a warm, stylish atmosphere.

Oficina 12
A vast selection of Milanese cuisine is presented to you at this classic restaurant. It's strong on creative meat dishes, but the oven-baked pizzas and focacce are other specialties.

Sadler
Two-Michelin-star chef Claude Sadler, who also owns the place, looks for only the best ingreditents to use in original dishes that have made this restaurant one of the most celebrated in the city. It offers a vast wine selection to accompany the haute cuisine, served in a sophisticated and elegantly decorated space.
