Drinking and dancing in Naples, Capri & Amalfi Coast |
|
Naples and its surrounding destinations don't exactly have the most happening or sophisticated nightlife. With only a few exceptions, bars in Naples attract college students to their cheap drinks and close from around June to September when the resorts nearby get all of vacationing locals. Still, if you're looking for drinks, you should find the right one for you around the piazzas dei Martiri, Amedeo and San Pasquale. Piazza Bellini also has a couple of bars with live music. As for the Amalfi Coast and Capri, you're there to relax and not to party all night, although there are a couple of places worth looking for if you simply don't want to go back to your hotel after dinner:
NAPLES
Virgilio Club
While most clubs in Naples close in the summer, this one throws summer parties to the sounds of major DJs. It's currently one of the most sophisticated nightspots in the city, decorated by an interior designer using colored lighting throughout the space.
S'move
This local favorite is our favorite too. If you're in town for just one night and want to go out for drinks this is where you should go, a colorful high-tech bar/club where the city's hippest crowds show up for aperitivi and electronic chill-out music later at night.
ARET' A' PALM - Piazza Sta Maria La Nova 14
Located by a soaring palm after which it was named, this bar is where the city's artists and intellectuals like to get together and have a glass of wine. There is often live music (jazz and blues), and the dark-wood interior with its velvet curtains is an elegant surprise.
Chez Moi
A design from the 1970s decorates this club frequented by a more sophisticated crowd (meaning local socialites, politicians, and artists). Located on Via Del Parco Margherita, it's open only on weekends and occasionally presents live music and cabaret, but it's some classic dance music that you'll hear on most nights.
POSITANO
Music on the Rocks
Located inside a cavern, this club is a place for drinks and chilling out to the soft music during the week, and for high-energy dancing on weekends. The low-lit space is seductively decorated, and is worth visiting Positano on weekends just to experience it.
SORRENTO
BAR ERCOLANO - Piazza Tasso
Located in a piazza and with outdoor tables, this is the best place for people-watching as you have a drink in late afternoon or after dinner.
