STYLE
Leon's Place offers design luxury with its elegant modern decor and wellness center created for relaxation and to provide the most modern experience in the eternal city inside a renovated 19th century palace.
The highly-recommended Radisson SAS Roma (popular with the chic, the fashionable, the bold, and the beautiful) is centrally-located (right by the Termini train station) and offers a sleek, modern, and even futuristic space. The bar and rooftop pool add to the experience.
Design-conscious travelers have also been choosing Ripa Hotel for some time now, and it remains one of Rome's most boldly-designed hotels. The mostly-white rooms are comfortable, as is the bar that serves a sophisticated and light menu.
Located in an up-and-coming part of town, Abitart Hotel, is close to some of the city's best nigthtlife. The rooms' decor has an arts theme, inspired by different artists and movements. The attached bar and restaurant are a trendy hotspot for cocktail-sipping.
Contemporary style and art also greet guests at Capo D'Africa Hotel, located on a quiet street by the Colosseum (which can be seen from the romantic roof terrace). The creative and cosy decor, together with friendly service, established this as one of the most inviting places to stay in Rome.
CHARM
Hotel Art is located in a pedestrian street where Fellini and other artists once lived. Your introduction to the place is in a vaulted reception with two futuristic white bubbles serving as the reception and office. The building used to be a chapel, so elsewhere you'll see a range of colors and contemporary touches incorporated into the old architecture.
Attention shopaholics: This is the hotel for you. The Inn at the Spanish Steps is right on Via dei Condotti, and combines old world charm with luxury boutique atmosphere. The same owners have opened The Inn at the Roman Forum, with an equally-fabulous interior. Have breakfast on the terrace overlooking the ruins of the Roman Forum, and you'll know you're in one of the city's most special hotels. Another beautifully-designed option for the modern traveler is Hotel Pulitzer, an elegant new hotel that includes a cocktail bar and a garden terrace. A similarly refined option to consider is Art Hotel Residenza A, overlooking the famous Via Veneto.
SPLURGE
Created by American designer Adam Tihany, the atmospheric Aleph Hotel has a lavish contemporary decor and a glamourous ambiance. Tucked behind Via Vittorio Veneto, the location is another plus.
There are also plenty of reasons to splurge at Exedra Hotel. Having been part of the setting of the film "Ocean's Twelve", you may already know this is true luxury and glamour. The fantastic rooftop pool and indoor spa further enhance your stay.
The perfect location (by the Pantheon) and stunning views from its roof terrace also make Grand Hotel de la Minerve an inviting choice. It's a palace named after a Roman goddess and one of those grand old hotels with classic chandeliers and furnishings.
Also providing city views, the romantic Raphael Luxury Hotel is located right behind Piazza Navona. It's a great option for a couple's getaway.
Yet another option for those looking to feel like royalty is the palacial Saint Regis Grand Hotel. Its baroque splendor has a price -- this is one of the most expensive hotels in the city.
But the only hotel in Rome that we award three U_Stars to is HOTEL HASSLER (6 Piazza Trinita Dei Monti - not available for online booking). Located at the top of the Spanish Steps, it's a legendary place where you'll get personalized service and sleep surrounded by classic good taste in its décor. Even better are the spectacular views from its renowned 6th floor restaurant, where you'll also be served some of the city's best food.
Also distinguished with U_Stars (two of them), Hotel de Russie is a unique luxury hotel with some stunning terraced gardens and one of the city's best spas. Located within walking distance to Rome's major attractions, this is a true escape while also allowing you to experience the best of the city.

CHEAP HOSTELS
Two budget choices that seem to please most guests are Hostel Alessandro and Alice in Wonderland, but there are plenty of other cheap places to stay in the eternal city.
